Four Medicinal Teas that Light Up Your Taste Buds!

Green tea was discovered around 2737 BC in China’s Yunnan province. Japan and China consume about 50% of the world’s green tea.

The Portuguese and Dutch first imported tea to Europe in 1610.

Americans tasted their first iced tea at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis.

Black and green teas are trendy choices, but let’s dive into the world of herbal teas and one green tea that is especially good for breast cancer

Herbal teas are a new trend in Europe and the US. The flowers, roots, stems, and spices surrounding herbal teas surround us.

They can have many health benefits, most without stimulants.

Depending on the tea:

  • It’s hydrating and can take the boredom out of drinking water
  • Rejuvenating if you’re stressed or anxious
  • May slow aging due to its high antioxidant levels
  • Aids in digestion
  • Can be very heart-healthy
  • Most are caffeine-free – drink them anytime

Here are some of my favorite teas for potential health benefits with regular consumption!

Full Leaf Hibiscus

Also known as red sorrel

It may have positive effects on:
Blood pressure
Inflammatory marker C-reactive protein.
HDL and LDL cholesterol
Insulin sensitivity
Neuroinflammation IL6 inflammatory proteins
Cellular damage caused by free radicals through its high antioxidant levels
Liver health
Bacterial infections
Vitamin C and K levels

Rooibos Tea

Pearl Fine Teas is a woman-owned small business founded by Elise. Elise creates all the blends, which can be found at the local farmer’s markets in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. If you aren’t local, look her up at https://www.pearlfineteas.com/

Featured are Rooibos Bourbon Vanilla (my favorite), Cinnamon Rooibos, and Rooibos Earl Grey.

Rooibos tea attributes:

  • Heart-healthy: Regular consumption may keep cholesterol in check, reduce LDL and increase HDL cholesterol, and inhibit the enzyme ACE, lowering blood pressure. It may also reduce vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis.
  • Weight Management: This tea can increase leptin, the “I’m full” hormone.
  • Anti-inflammatory: it’s high in antioxidants and a great bedtime tea!

A few minutes out of your day with
a cup of tea is the perfect de-stressor!

Turmeric Tea

This is another Pearl Fine Teas creation and my all-time favorite!

It is blended with organic ginger and elderberry for a smooth, mild, and pleasant taste—there is no medicine-like taste here!

Turmeric is a polyphenol with extraordinary antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

 High-Level EGCG Green Tea

Caffeinated

EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate) is a polyphenol found in green tea that has many attributes against breast cancer, such as:

  • Controls inflammation
  • Ability to limit the growth of breast cancer cells
  • Exhibits Pro-apoptotic (cell death) properties
  • Works synergistically with chemotherapy to increase effectiveness

This tea has the highest amount of EGCG on the market:

With so many types and flavors, tea is a conversation, a health benefit, and a few minutes of joy!
