Don’t Let That Cold Get A Hold of You!

Common cold germs are guaranteed to be in the air, whether at work, in a classroom, crowded mall, restaurant, shopping, or at home.

The common cold is a mild viral infection that affects the upper respiratory tract, nose, and throat. Over 200 viruses cause it, the most common being rhinoviruses.

Germs are spread through the air, through close contact, or by touching something contaminated with the virus.  A sneeze can travel 25 feet in about 22 seconds, and a cough lingers in the air for up to 10 minutes and travels 12 feet.

Symptoms may include:

A cold is most contagious during the first 2-3 days of the infection and lasts about a week.

Cold infections have five stages:  incubation, early symptoms, peak symptoms, and recovery.  The virus is replicated in the cooler and vascular nasal passages.

These are the perfect times to reduce the risk of developing a cold.
  1. When you know you have been exposed to someone with a cold, especially in a closed environment. There is no perfect formula; it depends on the strength of your immune system.
  2. At the first sign of a symptom, usually a little bit of fatigue or a scratchy throat.
Here is a cold-busting triad that works for me every time!
Plant-Based Zinc:

I only take plant-based zinc because it’s easy on the stomach. This amazing mineral reduces the severity of a cold by preventing it from multiplying and lodging in the throat and nose. However, zinc can have side effects, such as an upset stomach, especially in synthetic form.

1ml per day with food for three days at the onset of a cold

Vitamin C:

Vitamin C does not prevent colds, but it can decrease their duration by neutralizing the free radicals a viral infection produces. I prefer the liposomal form because it provides better absorption and protects the stomach from destruction. The bonus is that you can take higher doses without a gastric fallout.

one packet every hour for three hours a day at onset – two days

Skip Vitamin C and replace it with Biocidin:

If I suspect something more than a simple cold, I turn to Biocidin, a powerhouse natural antimicrobial that helps clear bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. A human clinical trial showed a rapid increase in immune activity within 60 minutes of use. Biocidin supports the upper respiratory tract and is a great all-around seasonal guard against infections. Check out the usage protocol for adults and children below.

Biocidin Throat Spray, adult:  3 sprays every 1-4 hours until symptoms are resolved.
Biocidin LSF, adult:  Titrate to 3 pumps 3-4 times daily.
